A new website for Chez Moi, the popular French restaurant on Aldwick Road in Bognor Regis, West Sussex, with an updated design and a built in back end so the owners can add, remove and edit their menus and opening hours themselves.

Classical French cooking on Aldwick Road

Chez Moi is one of the most popular restaurants in Bognor Regis: seven tables, a 4.8 rating on Tripadvisor and a place in The Good Food Guide. It is run by Nathalie and Michael, who met at Le Gavroche, trained under the Roux brothers and ran restaurants for Alain Ducasse in France before coming home to West Sussex. The menus change with the seasons, and often from week to week, so the new website had to do two things: look as considered as the cooking, and let the owners update their menus and opening hours themselves, without waiting on a developer.

An updated design that feels like the dining room

We gave Chez Moi a refreshed look in deep navy and cream, with a classic French serif, a handwritten logo and a small tricolour detail under the headings. The food photography does the selling. Key execution highlights:

A full width hero led by a signature dish, with the address, phone number, Book a Table and View Menus all in the first screen
The 4.8 Tripadvisor rating and The Good Food Guide shown straight under the hero
Nathalie and Michael's story, from Le Gavroche and the Roux brothers to Aldwick Road, told in their own voice
A private dining section for birthdays, anniversaries and company dinners on the nights the restaurant is closed

Menus and hours the owners run themselves

Behind the website sits a simple back end built for the restaurant. When the kitchen changes a dish, Chez Moi changes the website in a few minutes, and the update is live straight away.

Add, remove and edit menus, from Benny Breakfast and the Menu du Jour to the Chef's Table, Sunday lunch and the wine list
Edit every dish, its description and the price per course, with no code and no PDFs to upload
Change the breakfast, lunch and dinner times for each day of the week in one place
Opening hours update everywhere they appear, on the home, menus and contact pages, so they never disagree
Menus are real text rather than images, so they read well on a phone and can be found by Google
